Could this be the end of the xbox 360 ring of death!.
The new xbox 360 motherboard code named “Jasper” has been spotted in a number of new xbox 360 game consoles, could this be the possible end of the xbox 360 ring of death. The main problem with the older Falcon motherboards was heat fatigue caused by insufficient thermal insulation which eventually caused cracking and detachment of the graphic chips becoming resulting in the xbox 360 ring of death.
The new “Jasper” motherboard runs cooler and utilises less power with the added benefits of less heat release. Previous xbox 360’s utilised a 90nm GPU whereas the new Jasper uses a more energy efficient 65nm GPU. It may be very hard to determine if you have the new Jasper motherboard fitted but one sure sign will be the etching of the power supply rating. The older Falcon boards were rated at 175 watts or greater whereas the new Jasper motherboards are rated at 150 watts.
The only other tell tale sign of the new energy efficent motherboard being fitted is the flash memory, the flash memory has been boosted to 256MB from the older versions 16MB.
